THE PARADOX OF OUR TIME

THE PARADOX OF OUR TIMETHE PARADOX OF OUR TIME; AN IRONY

1. We live in times where we see many humans, but not enough humanity.

2. We live in times where the rich have more rooms than children and the poor have more children than rooms.

3. We live in times where Smart Phones bring you closer to those who are far, but distance you from those who are close.

4. We live in times where we open Facebook more than the Holy Book.

5. We live in times where a single mother can look after 10 children, but 10 children can’t look after a single mother.

6. We live in times where the rich walk miles to digest food, while the poor walk miles to obtain food.

7. We live in times where our contact lists are huge, but our relationships are poor.

8. We live in times where our possessions are more, but our contentment is less. This also is the paradox of our time.

9 We live in times where we know how to earn a good living, but somehow forget how to live a good life.

10 We live in times where many know the price of everything, but the value of nothing; this Indeed is the paradox of our time.

Indeed, we live in a strange world.

The Beauty and Mystery of Love from a wise Elder

The Beauty and Mystery of Love from a wise ElderThe beauty and mystery of love from a wise elder

Words of encouragement are there to motivate and inspire us, below is another words of inspiration termed, The Beauty and Mystery of Love from a wise Elder.

It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return but what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person we will know how to be grateful for the gift.
Love is when you take away the feeling of the romance in the relationship but you still care for that person.
A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.

When the door of happiness closes another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can just be with, never say a word and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.

It is true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose it but it is also true that we don’t know what we have been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they love you back. Don’t expect love in return, just wait for it to grow in their heart but, if it doesn’t, be content it grew in yours.
There are things you’d love to hear that you would never hear from the person whom you would like to hear them from but don’t be so deaf as not to hear it from the one who says it from their heart.

Never say good bye if you still want to try. Never give up if you still feel you can go on. Never say you don’t love a person anymore if you can’t let go.
Love comes to those who still hope, although they have been disappointed. To those who still believe, although they have been betrayed.

To those who still need to love, although they have been hurt before and to those that have the courage and faith to build trust again.
It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don’t go for looks, they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth, even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. This is indeed The Beauty and Mystery of Love from a wise Elder.

Thief rewarded. Victim punished. WHY???

Thief rewarded. Victim punished. WHY???In the 1930’s, a rather unusual Thief rewarded. Victim punished. WHY???

court case came to pass…
A woman was being charged with stealing a loaf of bread. She seemed to have good cause. She was poor and taking care of her daughter and two grandchildren after their father had abandoned them.
Unfortunately, the shopkeeper refused to drop charges. He felt that because it was a bad neighborhood, if one person stole and got away with it, then it would encourage more to do so. He feared for his safety and his business, and he wanted to teach all the other people in the neighborhood a lesson.

Atiku and Buhari and The Space In The Middle

Atiku and Buhari and The Space In The MiddleAtiku and Buhari and The Space in the Middle

In the hearts of every young man and woman reading this, who mean well for our country; in the hearts of men and women devoid of sentiments: tribes, religion and selfish gains — We not only have a clear idea of the Nigeria of our dream, but more importantly the leaders that will make that dream a reality.

We know in all sincerity that Buhari does not only represent the impossibility of that dream coming to pass but the possibility that with him we may not even be alive in the first place to even dream. He is like the thief at the left hand. To some, he is not just the thief, he is the “Bad” thief.

Do you have the Heart of a Mouse?

Do you have the Heart of a Mouse?Do you have the Heart of a Mouse? A mouse was in constant distress because of its fear of the cat. A magician took pity on it and turned it into a cat. But then it became afraid of the dog.

So the magician turned it into a dog. Then it began to fear the panther, so the magician turned it into a panther. Whereupon it was full of fear for the hunter.

At this point, the magician gave up. He turned it into a mouse again saying, “Nothing I do for you is going to be of any help because you have the heart of a mouse.”

INSIGHTS

Fear is one of the most powerful emotions that humans experience. It can control our thoughts, our actions, and even our decisions. Fear can be helpful in some situations, like when it motivates us to avoid dangerous situations. But in other situations, fear can be paralyzing and can prevent us from living our lives to the fullest.

Fear is often the root of many mental health disorders, like anxiety and depression. When we’re constantly living in fear, it takes a toll on our mental and physical health. Fear can cause us to miss out on important life experiences, and it can even lead to suicide.

If you’re struggling with fear, seek out professional help. There are many people who understand what you’re going through and who want to help. if you feel like you can’t overcome your fears on your own, don’t quit therapy.  And remember, it’s okay to be scared. What matters is how you deal with that fear. Fear would make a human have the heart of a mouse as in the story above. But you don’t need to have a heart of a mouse. The question again is: Do you have the Heart of a Mouse?

HAPPINESS IS FACTORY FITTED

HAPPINESS IS FACTORY FITTEDHAPPINESS IS FACTORY FITTED: AN INSIGHTFUL STORY

Some of the most profound lessons I had learnt in life came from my interactions with children and the probing questions they asked. That was the case on this Sunday. I was approached after Mass by a little girl. What I recall about her was that she was smart, bold, confident and precocious. She said to me, ‘Please Fr. I need you to do me a favour. I need you to pray for my parents to become as rich as our neighbour, so that my daddy too can be happy. I love daddy but he is not always happy’. Need I say I was shocked? Just as I was about to engage her in a more elaborate discussion, a couple approached and excused her. They said they needed to say hello to Fr. What began as simple greeting snowballed into a conversation. Before I turned, my little girl was gone. I felt bad. Let me digress a bit. Continue reading “HAPPINESS IS FACTORY FITTED”

Every Drop MattersEvery Drop Matters: The need not to be Wasteful

Recently, when I was going to bed after using my bathroom, I started hearing sound of drops of water from the tap in slow successions, but since it was dropping into an empty bucket, I decided to let it be, not realizing that every drop matters.

But, alas! When I woke up the next morning, around 5am, the bucket was almost full! I was surprised that just drops even in such slow successions could produce that much. I couldn’t help it, ‘Just drops?!’ I questioned rhetorically.

His disciples thought for a while, one of them said, ‘Because

Looking on the bright sideLooking on the bright side: On the need to be Positive Minded.

A world-famous shoe manufacturer took a decision to expand his business, by setting up a new branch in a remote, little – known country. He called up one of his marketing managers and sent him to the country to explore the possibility of setting up a new factory there.

The young executive flew out the next day. But within 24 hours of reaching there he called his boss. “This place is not good for our business,” he said gloomily. “people do not wear shoes out here. We had better forget any notion setting up a factory here. It simply won’t work. I am catching the next flight.”

The boss was highly dissatisfied with the report. He had to set his heart on doing what he wanted. He called another young manager, from his marketing managers and sent him out with the same order. Within few hours of getting there, this young manager called his boss with great excitement. “This place is unbelievable,” he exclaimed. “our business is going to bloom here. These people don’t even know what shoes are like. When we introduce shoes here, we shall have a whole, new, untapped market. Please send in our planners and designers as soon as you can. We must set up a factory here, and win all the way.

What a difference a positive attitude can make? Where a pessimist looks and see despair, an optimist looks and sees hope. In the moments of sorrow, pains and difficulties, our mindset will determine how things will result. A transformed mind leads to transformed attitudes and behaviours.
